Lines. What are they?

Lines are elements of art that are used to define shape, contours, outlines, and suggest mass and volume. It may be a continuous mark made on a surface with a pointed tool or implied by the edges of shapes and forms. There are 6 types of lines: Outlines, Contour lines, Gesture lines, Sketch lines, Calligraphic lines, and Implied lines.
